Allowing "local network access" in your browser

Since late 2025, Chrome and Edge ask for explicit permission before a website can access devices on your local network — including the beID Helper, which runs locally on 127.0.0.1.

Why does my browser ask this?

Browsers treat "127.0.0.1" (your own computer) and your local network as sensitive territory: a malicious website could otherwise talk to devices on your home or office network without your knowledge. Since late 2025, Chrome and Edge therefore show an explicit prompt the first time a website — such as a service offering eID login via the beID Helper — tries to connect to 127.0.0.1.

How to allow it

When the "local network access" prompt appears, click Allow.
Reload the page or retry the action (login, signing).
If you denied it by mistake, open the site settings (padlock icon next to the address bar) and set "Local network" or "Apps on your device" back to Allow.

Check that the beID Helper is actually running (icon at the bottom-right of the taskbar) and read The website can't find the beID Helper for next steps.
