Windows blocks the install: SmartScreen warning

While installing the beID Helper, Windows sometimes shows the "Windows protected your PC" screen with a blue "Don't run" button. This is a standard Windows SmartScreen message, not an installer error.

Why does this happen?

SmartScreen rates new applications based on how often they've already been downloaded by other Windows users. A newly published or lightly downloaded installer — even if digitally signed — sometimes gets this warning. It says nothing about the file's actual safety, only about how well-known it is to Microsoft yet.

How to proceed

  1. Click "More info" (a small text link, usually at the bottom-left of the window).
  2. A "Run anyway" button appears. Click it.
  3. The beID Helper installation continues normally.

Is this actually safe?

Yes. The beID Helper installer is digitally signed, so Windows can verify the file hasn't been altered since publication. SmartScreen blocks here based on popularity, not a concrete threat. Always download the installer directly from this site (beid.hermesplatform.be/download), never from a third party.
